Germany, Georgia Co-operate Afghanistan

Georgian Defense Minister Levan Izoria visited Berlin on 14 June for discussions with his German counterpart, Ursula Von Der Leyen.
The discussions covered the two countries cooperation in NATO’s Resolute Support training mission in Afghanistan, as well as security and defense in European and the Black Sea region.
Of the 900 soldiers that Georgia has deployed in Afghanistan, 120 are under German command.  Some 2,500 Georgian soldiers have received training in Germany, including 18 in the Fuhrungsakademie der Bundeswehr, the armed forces’ staff college in Hamburg.
